  Information for Clients

Referrals:
Referrals to Hart Felt Ministries can be made from other care receivers, family members, social workers, neighbors, congregations, community service workers, or directly from this website. The potential care receiver must make the initial request, if possible. If they are not able to use the phone, the referring person may make the request with the care receiver's written or voice permission at that time.

Eligibility:
  • Must be age 60 years or over.
  • Must have chronic disability that prevents accomplishment of activities of daily living, i.e. problems with vision or hearing, amputated limb, MS, ALS, Parkinson’s, stroke, heart disease, arthritis, and other debilitating health challenges.
  • Services for persons with mental health disorders or mental retardation are dependent upon availability of trained/experienced volunteer.
  • Care receiver must be able to communicate with volunteer and be ambulatory in order to receive transportation services.
Not Eligible:
  • Persons recuperating from surgery who do not fit the above requirements.
  • Persons under the age of 60.

Our Services:

Hart Felt Ministries offers several non-medical services.
  • PRACTICAL: Our volunteers prepare light meals and assist with light housekeeping and laundry. We help with organizing, assist with communication, perform minor home repairs, run errands, and provide transportation to doctor appointments. There is no charge for our services, and they are performed with a helpful friends-and-neighbors attitude.
  • EMOTIONAL: Our volunteers care and share conversational time on a dependable schedule. We offer respite care to relieve primary care givers. We offer reassurance via telephone check-up calls. Volunteers are trained to listen, observe, reflect, and discern both spoken and unspoken needs - to build trusting relationships.
  • SPIRITUAL: Our volunteers provide one-on-one reassurance, intercessory prayer, uplifting devotions, and music - a safe haven for the discussion of life's deepest issues.
SERVICES NOT AVAILABLE:
  • Medication dispensing.
  • Personal care/bathing, toileting, changing bandages, physical lifting of care receiver, transportation for adults able to use public transportation, overnight respite.
